The ageing process changes our skin in many ways.
The skin loses its flexibility and firmness (regulated by collagen and elastin), the activity of sebaceous and sweat glands diminishes and the loss of water through skin increases, which causes changes of skin pigmentation and thickness.
In addition, the muscles supporting the facial contour become weaker, while the cells’ regeneration process is slowing down.
All these factors result in the development of wrinkles and deepening of lines and folds. First wrinkles become apparent between 25 and 30 years of age.
Initially, they are visible when triggered by our mimics (expression wrinkles), however, over time they become permanent (static wrinkles). As the time passes, we can also notice the deepening of lines that add age to our faces.
Wrinkles and lines may appear in any region of the face, but it is on our forehead (horizontal and vertical wrinkles), eyes (so-called crow’s feet), lips (co-called barcode, smokers, marionette wrinkles, monkey face), neck (Venus necklace, turkey neck), nose (so-called bunny lines), chest, hands and feet where the wrinkles develop most likely and quickly.
The process of treating wrinkles and lines involves various therapeutic options. First of all, it is necessary to introduce relevant preventive measures and supplementation and support it with aesthetic procedures such as botulinum toxin, hyaluronic acid, platelet-rich plasma mesotherapy, peels as well as laser and light therapies.
The treatment type is determined by a doctor in cooperation with the patient, depending on the patient’s health and skin condition.
